"By "night thoughts," I mean those akin to evansecent, sometimes disturbing, sometimes unfocused, often just flat-out odd images and notions that come drifting through us at night, possibly just before sleep or while the mind or eye is unmoored from linear, daytime concerns. Although these "thoughts" actually can occur at any time of the day, the quiet, later hours seem especially conducive to the kind of loosening of self-concious control that can drive the creative process to unpredictable places. In any case, the title Night Thoughts isn't meant to refer to a specific to time, but instead is intended to cover whatever this sort of purposeful/purposeless activity might yield, regardless of when it occurs. Similarly, the results needn't be the dark figures of a Goya fantasy/nightmare but can have a lighter, even whimsical edge.

The artists in this exhibition have shown a special affiliation for this sort of thinking/drifting/creating."
