SANTA BARBARA GUITAR HEROES
SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 3:00-5:00 P.M.

Robert Carbonaro

Robert Carbonaro's guitar-making journey began 30 years ago when he wandered into Rodney Albin's guitar shop in San Francisco where Albin taught Carbonaro the art of flattop guitar making. Intrigued by what he had learned, Carbonaro was inspired to pursue this line of craftsmanship. Later, while living in Boston, Carbonaro met Owen Shaw, expert viola de gamba and violin maker. Shaw taught Carbonaro the process of carving tops and backs. It was during this time that Carbonaro made his first archtop guitar. During the 1980's, Carbonaro opened the Woodstock Guitar Shop. Currently, after having run a full-time cabinet woodworking and guitar business for many years, Carbonaro has dedicated his time to guitar making. Each of his guitars is made with "a passion for detail and a true desire to create an instrument that will play beautifully and inspire you".
