THE COMMUNITY GALLERY

The Arts Fund Community Gallery supports emerging and mid-career artists living in Santa Barbara County. The Arts Fund holds six yearly exhibitions featuring a minimum of four artists per show. One exhibition out of the year is dedicated to the Teen Arts Mentorship students to exhibit their mentorship work in our gallery. Our Guest Curator Program offers opportunities for community members to develop their professional gallery experience by presenting thought-provoking and exciting exhibitions.

VISIT THE GALLERY IN LA CUMBRE PLAZA!

On July 1, 2022, the Arts Fund brought the Museum of Sensory & Movement Experiences (MSME) under our Community Gallery program. This addition was made possible in part through generous funding from the David Bermant Foundation.

MSME was founded by local Santa Barbara artist Marco Pinter. As a project that supported local and regional technology-based artists, The Arts Fund saw a natural fit within the Community Gallery program.

We're thrilled to continue and sustain Marco's vision for this community space, the only one of its kind between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Come visit us in La Cumbre Plaza, just 10 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara. Parking is free!

As part of bringing MSME into the Community Gallery program, The Arts Fund took over the lease for MSME's 3,000 square-foot multi-use space in La Cumbre Plaza. MSME will continue to operate under the leadership of The Arts Fund, with a dedicated space inside for the Community Gallery. We're excited to have a new home in Santa Barbara to host shows throughout the year that feature and celebrate the artists of Santa Barbara County.

THE MUSEUM OF SENSORY & MOVEMENT EXPERIENCES (MSME)

Under ongoing leadership and operation by The Arts Fund, the MSME (pronounced "Miss-Me") will continue to be an interactive museum destination, designed for exploring the next generation of media arts.

Interact with your body and senses in this energy-filled mecca of collaboration and kinetic wonder. The museum features installations of experimental time-based art, both contemporary and historic, offering an experiential journey through the history of interactive art.

100% of MSME ticket sales go directly to benefit future Arts Fund programming.

THE GUEST CURATOR PROGRAM

The community is invited to submit exhibition proposals which will be evaluated by The Arts Fund Gallery Committee and selected based on the following criteria:

  • Providing an opportunity for local artists to expand their professional exhibition experience and enrich the cultural platform in Santa Barbara

  • Collaborating with a minimum of 4 local artists and/or community organizations to offer the widest inclusion of the public and create a synergistic forum for the advancement of the arts

  • Offering educational opportunities for the community to better understand local art, artists, or artistic processes

If you are interested in guest curator opportunities, please fill out the form below. Submissions consistent with our mission and guidelines have priority.
