About Ken Bortolazzo

Having pursued sculpture for the last fifty years Ken Bortolazzo has seen and passed through a myriad of phases and genres of art. Having spent the last thirty years working almost exlusively with stinless steel, he has created two main bodies of work, his Optikinetic works which he is currently pursuing and before that, his puzzle series. These puzzle works involved interlocking geometric shapes, sometimes quite large, one of which now abides next to the Pali Wine Company's tasting room in the Santa Barbara Funk Zone. Here it will reside for the next year as part of the Arts Fund outdoor series of art installations. This piece was conceived of in 1998 and was fabricated in 2010. It is titled Hexad for the six interlocking pieces that make up the sculpture.
