Sticks and Stones - Community Gallery Exhibit

Friday, March 16 — Saturday, May 12, 2018

The Arts Fund is pleased to announce the opening of Sticks and Stones, an exhibition of the Sewjourners Fiber Art Group curated by Ranell Hansen. A reception will be held at The Arts Fund Gallery on Friday, March 16th, 2018 from 5-8pm during the Funk Zone Art Walk. Sticks and Stones will feature work by Isabel Downs, Linda Estrada, Carol Fay, Ranell Hansen, Pamela A. Holst, Patti Hunter, Susan Bullington Katz, Mary Maxwell, Patty Six and Bobbi Tacoma.

Sewjourners is a group of ten emerging fiber artists, a satellite of the Coastal Quilter’s Guild. They are of diverse backgrounds and abilities but share a common heritage in the love of quilts and all things fabric. Sticks and Stones grew out of a group challenge. This exhibition of art created from fabric and thread explores diversity and individual expression. Some of the work is strong and angry, expressing themes of fear and sadness. Other pieces display a connection to the natural environment. Some artists work abstractly while others prefer representational. This is the first time Sewjourners has shown their work together.
