"Nuanced Peoples: Exploring Latinx Identities aims to celebrate the diversity within the label “Latinx” and show we are not a monolithic group. We are a people of many emotions, professions, and skin colors. There will be 5 artists in the show, which will be held at the Arts Fund location at La Cumbre Plaza. The artists in this show come from similar cultural backgrounds, but within their own histories lay a plethora of unique stories to tell. Each artwork is a thread that makes up the fabric of Latinx identity — an identity that is always being expanded and relooked. The works collectively speak on the vastness of Latinx realities and the agency for making one’s future a possibility. "

FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT
JAMIE DUFEK

Thank you for your interest in The Arts Fund. We believe that exposure and involvement in the arts are essential to enrich and strengthen our community.  Art gives us time to reflect, it inspires creativity, and can act as a catalyst for change. Each of us has a unique perspective, and when it is shared through the universal language of art, it has great power. Visual art, dance, theater, music, and the written word have all had a significant impact in history, and they compose the heart and soul of a city. So whether you are a creator or consumer of art, I welcome you to our vibrant arts community. Please reach out to connect - I’d love to get to know you and I invite you to partner with us as we foster and advance arts and culture in Santa Barbara County.

testimonials

These classes are so inspiring for the developing artist. There is hardly anything of this caliber accessible to young artists. The students that take part in these classes are really there to grow as artists. It's so encouraging to see my daughter grow and learn from artists who are incredible talented and are successful in their field.

~Parent of 2017 Teen Arts Mentorship Student

Being able to communicate with a professional artist was an experience I never thought I would be able to have in high school, and The Arts Fund made it possible. This priceless program is a gem, and something l will always count as a major stepping stone in my creative career.
